Recycle e-waste

What is e-waste?

E-waste is any item with a plug, battery, or power cord that is no longer working or wanted. It includes everything from phones and refrigerators to fluorescent light tubes.

How are we helping?

At LEXI Lighting, we’re committed to reducing environmental impact by supporting responsible electronic waste recycling. We actively participate in e-waste recycling programs to ensure that old or unwanted lighting products, such as LED globes, fixtures, and accessories, are properly disposed of and diverted from landfills. By partnering with certified recycling facilities, we help recover valuable materials and prevent harmful substances from polluting the environment. Together, we can light up the future—sustainably.

Where to take common e-waste items

Batteries: Household batteries can be recycled at no cost. To find drop-off points, visit the B-cycle website. For car battery drop-off sites, visit the Car batteries page – Recycling Near You website.

Transformer Recycling: it is a crucial process that ensures the safe and environmentally responsible disposal of old or decommissioned electrical transformers. These devices, often used in power distribution networks, contain valuable metals like copper and steel, as well as potentially hazardous materials such as oil and insulating fluids that must be handled with care. These INFO are provided by: E-Cycle Solutions

Light bulbs: Fluorescent tubes and light bulbs can be disposed of for free at permanent drop-off sites located at most council-operated transfer stations.

Case for scrap cables: At Melbourne Copper Scraps, they collect stripped and faulty insulated cables from customers across Victoria. They recycle the cables and reduce the need for mining copper to minimize the ecological impacts and the depletion of the mineral wealth.

Smoke detectors: Domestic smoke alarms are not included in the e-waste ban and can be disposed of in your rubbish bin.

Whitegoods: Metal from white goods can be recycled again and again to make new products, so they mustn't end up in landfills. Visit the Whitegoods recycler lookup - Recycling Near You website.
